When to use Imodium instant melt tablets?

Imodium instant melt tablets can be used in the treatment of acute diarrhoea. This can be caused by various factors such as food poisoning, viral infections or stress. You can use Imodium instant melt tablets when you suffer from symptoms such as frequent and watery stools, abdominal cramps and bloating. It is important not to exceed the recommended dosage and to follow the instructions on the package. See a doctor if the diarrhea lasts longer than 48 hours, if there is blood in the stool, or if other serious symptoms occur.

Compound
Active ingredient: Each Imodium Instant Melt Orodispersible Tablet contains 2mg of loperamide hydrochloride
Excipients: gelatin (E485), mannitol (E421), aspartame (E951), mint flavor (contains ethanol and benzyl alcohol), sodium hydrogen carbonate.

Dosage
- In case of acute (sudden) diarrhoea
Start with 2 tablets (4 mg). Then, after each subsequent loose stool, take 1 tablet (2 mg),
as long as the diarrhea lasts. Never take more than 8 tablets (16 mg) in one day.
- In case of chronic (long-term) diarrhoea
Start with 2 tablets (4 mg) per day. Then adjust this dose until you have solid stools 1 to 2 times a day. Usually this is achieved with 1 to 6 tablets (2 to 12 mg) per day. You should never take more than 8 tablets (16 mg) in one day.

Children from 8 years
- In case of acute (sudden) diarrhoea
Start with 1 tablet (2 mg). Then after each subsequent loose stool 1 tablet (2 mg), as long as the diarrhea lasts. The number of tablets that a child can take in one day depends on the
body weight of the child. See the table below for this. It should also be applied to children
make sure that you never administer more than 8 tablets per day.

- In case of chronic (long-term) diarrhoea
Start with 1 tablet (2 mg) per day. Then adjust this dose until the child has solid stools 1 to 2 times a day. Usually this is achieved with 1 to 6 tablets (2 to 12 mg) per day.
The number of tablets that a child can take in one day depends on their body weight
of the child. See the table below for this. In children, care should also be taken to never administer more than 8 tablets per day.
