How do you remove a tick correctly?

Do not twist, squeeze the abdomen, or apply oil or alcohol to the tick: this can trigger regurgitation and increase the risk of inoculation. After removal, check that the head has been completely removed; clean the area again and record the date and location of the bite. If erythema migrans (ring-shaped redness), fever, or joint pain develops in the following weeks, contact your veterinarian. The same principle applies to animals; if in doubt, consult your veterinarian.

Hygiene, maintenance and safety

After each use, clean the tick tweezers with mild soap and water, dry thoroughly, and disinfect with a suitable product.
