Wat is een hoge bloeddruk? Een hoge bloeddruk, ook wel hypertensie genoemd, ontstaat wanneer de druk in de bloedvaten langdurig verhoogd is. Vaak merk je hier weinig van, terwijl een verhoogde bloeddruk wel een belangrijke risicofactor is voor hart- en vaatziekten. Een optimale bloeddruk ligt rond de 120/80 mmHg. Ligt je bloeddruk regelmatig boven de 140/90 mmHg? Dan spreken we doorgaans van een hoge bloeddruk.
